Apple's iPhone 18 Pro supplier details were leaked online after a cyberattack on Tata Electronics, raising concerns about its manufacturing operations.
New Delhi, India Jul 1, 2026 ALN: Apple’s closely guarded supply chain was reportedly exposed after sensitive supplier lists, component details, and alleged images of its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models surfaced online following the cyberattack on its contract manufacturer, Tata Electronics.
As per a report by Reuters, ransomware group World Leaks published more than 2 lakh files allegedly stolen from Tata Electronics on the dark web.
The leaked data reportedly included supplier mapping documents for the unreleased iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, along with internal photographs purportedly showing the devices undergoing drop tests.
Apple has long kept its supplier network and manufacturing operations under tight wraps. If authentic, the leaked documents could offer an unusually detailed look at the companies behind the iPhone 18 Pro and how its key components are sourced.
The files reportedly included at least six documents mapping hundreds of components, including chips, battery parts, and camera modules, to specific suppliers.
The files also carried Apple’s “Confidential” watermark and internal codenames, alongside alleged photographs of iPhone 18 Pro models undergoing drop tests at a Tata Electronics facility earlier this year.
Apple has reached out for comments on the development. The story will be updated upon receiving responses.
The breach comes at a crucial time for Apple as it continues to expand manufacturing in India to reduce its dependence on China. Tata Electronics has rapidly emerged as one of Apple’s most important manufacturing partners outside China. Besides assembling iPhones, the company also supplies components used in Apple’s devices.
According to Counterpoint Research, India is expected to manufacture 26% of the world’s iPhones in 2026, up sharply from just 6% four years ago.
The development follows a cybersecurity incident disclosed by Tata Electronics earlier this month after World Leaks published the files totaling over 630 GB.
The leaked database reportedly contained documents linked to Apple, Tesla, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), and Qualcomm.
Tata Electronics confirmed that it detected the cyberattack but stated that the incident had no impact on its business operations.
Apple was earlier reported to be investigating the breach with Tata, which has tightened security measures and initiated a forensic audit.
In a separate development, Apple recently raised prices of several products in India, including MacBooks, iPads, Apple TV, and HomePod devices, citing soaring memory and storage costs fueled by the rapid expansion of AI data centers. While iPhones were spared, prices of the affected products increased by 14% to 88%.
