Kinnaur Kailash Yatra Set to Commence on July 30 with Enhanced Safety Measures

Shimla, India Jul 26, 2026 ALN: Shimla: The annual Kinnaur Kailash Yatra in Himachal Pradesh is set to commence on July 30, with the district administration completing essential safety and logistical preparations ahead of the pilgrimage. The Yatra is scheduled to continue until August 10, although officials have indicated that its duration may be extended based on prevailing weather conditions. This pilgrimage is not only a significant event for the local devotees but also attracts pilgrims from across the country, reflecting the deep-rooted spiritual traditions and cultural heritage of the region.

The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra is regarded as one of the state's most revered religious treks, spanning approximately 19 kilometers and leading devotees to the sacred 72-foot-high Shivling at Kinnaur Kailash, a site of immense religious significance. Following the report, repair and safety works were conducted at vulnerable locations, allowing the administration to approve the commencement of the pilgrimage. Online registration for the Yatra will open on July 28, with offline registration beginning on July 30. A maximum of 375 pilgrims will be permitted to undertake the Yatra each day. Of these, 175 registrations will be accepted online, 125 through offline registration, and 75 slots are reserved for the Adventure Tour Operators Association, Kinnaur. The introduction of a cap on daily pilgrims is a strategic move to manage the flow of visitors, ensuring that the environment remains conducive for both worship and safety.

It is mandatory for all devotees to register before embarking on the pilgrimage; no pilgrim will be allowed to proceed without valid registration.
