This event, scheduled for National Day on August 9, will allow spectators to witness and feel the impact of a 21-gun salute as President Tharman Shanmugaratnam inspects the parade. In preparation for the event, media representatives joined the PGS crew during the second National Education (NE) show on July 18. At approximately 6:30 PM, the M3G raft set off towards the National Stadium, with gunners from the 23rd Battalion, Singapore Artillery, dressed in ceremonial uniforms. Located just 200 meters from the National Stadium, the PGS will be significantly closer to the public compared to previous years held at Marina Bay. MAJ Chin emphasized that consultations with stakeholders, including the national water agency PUB, ensure clear timelines for water activities during the event. Engineers from the Defence Science and Technology Agency conducted a detailed sound mapping study to ensure safety. The guns will be positioned at least 150 meters away from the nearest infrastructure and public viewing areas. Planning for the PGS began a year ago, with a crew of about 151 personnel from the Singapore Artillery and Singapore Combat Engineers starting their training in January.
