Doha, Qatar Jul 12, 2026 ALN: Following the passing of The Father Amir, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Amiri Diwan has announced a period of general mourning throughout all parts of the country in honour of the late Father Amir, may God have mercy on him. The mourning period will last for four days, starting from Sunday, 12 July 2026.

The Amiri Diwan also announced the suspension of work at ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and public institutions starting from Monday, 13 July 2026, with employees set to resume their duties on Sunday, 19 July 2026. Flags will be flown at half-mast throughout the country during the mourning period.

In a separate statement posted on X, the Amiri Diwan announced that the funeral prayer for the late Father Amir, God willing, will be held after the Maghrib prayer on Sunday at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab Mosque in Doha, followed by his burial at the Lusail Cemetery.
