Government Open to Consultations on Shillong Ropeway Project, Says Minister

Shillong, India Jul 30, 2026 ALN: The Government is willing to engage in consultations to address public concerns surrounding the proposed Shillong Ropeway project, Tourism Minister Timothy D. Shira said on Thursday.

Responding to questions over the project, including allegations of tree felling, Shira stated that all necessary statutory approvals had already been obtained and noted that the project was initiated during the tenure of the previous Tourism Minister.

“That was not done during my time. I have been informed that everything has been done properly and all required permissions have been obtained from the concerned authorities,” the minister said.
