Launch of ECCE Anganwadi Programme in Diyun Aims to Enhance Early Childhood Education

Itanagar, India Jul 16, 2026 ALN: DIYUN, 15 Jul: The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Anganwadi programme was launched here in Changlang district on Wednesday, marking a significant step towards enhancing early childhood education in the region. This initiative is crucial as it seeks to address the foundational educational needs of children aged 3 to 6 years, a critical period in their developmental journey.

The launch of the ECCE Anganwadi programme signifies the commencement of a three-year partnership involving the Department of Women and Child Development, the India Foundation for Education Transformation (IFET), and the Ugam Education Foundation. This collaboration aims to strengthen school readiness among young children, which is vital for their future academic success. According to an IFET release, the programme is designed to bolster the preschool education component of Anganwadi centres through various strategic initiatives.

One of the primary focuses of the programme is the capacity building of Anganwadi workers, who play a pivotal role in the early education of children in rural and semi-urban areas. These workers will receive continuous mentoring, which is essential for enhancing their skills and ensuring they are equipped to deliver quality education.
